Lindsay Voorhees, Owner and Occupational Therapist:

Hi there! I’m Lindsay, a registered and licensed occupational therapist based in Durham, North Carolina. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with my Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy and a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University. I have since worked in inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient settings with adults experiencing a variety of acute and chronic health conditions including being a spinal cord injury therapist at WakeMed Rehab Hospital. I have also worked as an occupational therapist at UNC Hospitals and Duke Health, where my passion for working with people with neurologic conditions deepened.

My vision for this community-based practice is to promote functional independence and lifelong wellness through creative and collaborative approaches. I believe that addressing emotional, mental, and physical health is incredibly important and I integrate mindfulness and movement practices into therapy to support client’s goals. I have personally felt and witnessed how these practices deepen self-discovery and self-compassion, as we are navigating life transitions… or just life!

I have completed advanced training with the Dance for PD® program led by the Mark Morris Dance Group; physically integrated/inclusive dance with AXIS Dance Company; and trauma-informed Sensory Enhanced Yoga®. Across the past 8 years, I have had the joy of co-founding, directing, and now guest teaching with NC Dance for Parkinson’s. I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with the Kripalu Center and incorporate aspects of yoga, including postures (asana), breathing (pranayama), and meditation, to support my clients in reaching their goals.

In my free time, I love dancing, wandering through the woods, hammocking, tending my humble herb and flower garden, and snuggling with my little pup Mico.

And most importantly, I love connecting with other human beings! Please feel free to reach out to me if anything is resonating with you. We are all finding our way through this life and I strongly believe that we are meant to fumble through it, gracefully or otherwise, together.

Be well,

Lindsay
